Another of Sapporo's surviving western-influenced buildings is the city's famous Clock Tower (Sapporo Tokeidai). The wood-built clock tower, which resembles the kind of colonial building that is common to many US cities (a fact that is partly due to the Americans involved in planning the city), is a must on every visit in Sapporo. In addition to the still functioning clock with chimes, an interesting museum on the history of the region with a special emphasis on agriculture is among the highlights.
