"... Anyone who drives along the Brunsberg near Godelheim when the weather is nice and has an easterly wind, goes for a walk there or relaxes at the leisure lake, will see us in the air! A lot of colorful "umbrellas", namely paragliders, also called paragliders, or even every now and then a hang glider!
It began in the 1970s with what was then a new aircraft, when the first “kites”, also known as hang gliders, appeared in the skies of the Alps, but also a little later on the more modest slopes of the Weserbergland. Hang gliders, by the way, because the pilot hangs under the aircraft and not because he starts on a slope or glides down it.
In 1981, the Höxter hang gliding club was founded with 20 participants and since then the Brunsberg, in the immediate vicinity of Godelheim, has been the club's center.
From 1990 onwards, the rapid rise of paragliding began, which ultimately led to the club's name being expanded to become the Höxter Paragliding and Hang-gliding Club. Unfortunately, of the now 104 members, less than a handful are currently active hang gliders. ..."
