The lantern and gallery stands on a concrete base (11m) on the market square at the harbor in Eckernförde.

The tower (1907 - 1981) was replaced by a modern lighthouse on the Ostseesteg. To prevent confusion, the old tower was painted in the city's colors. The old belt lens is still in the lantern, but the lamp no longer shines on the Baltic Sea.
