In the 1960s, our parents would drag us to the "Aue" for Sunday or holiday strolls as a closer alternative to the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. We didn't have a car back then, and the Aue was relatively easy to reach by tram. Today, it's much better by bus. And honestly, it wasn't always uplifting for us kids back then. In our Sunday best. And walking. Who liked that? In the late 1970s, until I finally moved away from Kassel in the late 1980s, the Aue was one of my favorite jogging routes. And today. One of my favorite destinations during our relatively frequent "visits" to Kassel, where I also worked until a few years ago. In every season. And often with a (paid!) detour to Siebenbergen, another gem in the Aue. Karlsaue State Park, the green lung of Kassel. An oasis. And located in the immediate vicinity of the city center. What more could you want? And the fact that cycling is prohibited there doesn't bother me, even as a diligent e-biker. There's still the Fulda floodplain.
