The Eckardtsturm lies on the 432 m high Eckardtsberg and from here offers a magnificent view over the rooftops of the city and the Veste Coburg, which rises with its huge walls and towers high above the city. It is one of the largest with an extension of about 135 × 260 m and is one of the best preserved castles in Germany.
The tower was built in 1873. He served as a lookout tower near the city. The gothic oriel above the front door adorns the east side of the crenellated tower.

Actually an observation tower, but closed all year round. Last opened in the 90's for one day each year.
