Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge features wetlands, hardwood forests, and open meadows. Here you can slow down and watch for wildlife—bald eagles, trumpeter swans, black bears, and white-tailed deer are commonly seen. The trail passes near lakes and marshes, with several short boardwalks and interpretive signs along the way. Camping is not permitted within Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, so plan to camp outside the refuge boundaries.
