A steep path leads you up this hill, on which - still quite proud - the ruin of the castle Volmarstein perched. The remains of the castle are definitely worth seeing, but above all it is the great view of the Ruhr Valley and (in clear weather) far beyond what makes this little detour commendable. A great place for a little break and for the realization that the "coal pot" has long exchanged his gray dress for a very green robe.

The ruin is easily accessible today. All paths are developed and secured accordingly. From the castle you have a wonderful panoramic view of the city of Wetter and the town of Volmarstein.
The Burghotel Volmarstein is located below the castle, but its parking space is reserved for hotel guests only. It is therefore advisable to look for a parking space in the village below, the footpath up to the castle is not very far. The “Nettmanscher Hof” car park is opposite the church.
