Forte Papa, one of the historic fortifications of Ponza. It is located on a hill in the western part of the island, in a panoramic and dominant position. The fort was built in the 18th century by the Bourbons to defend the island from pirate attacks and control maritime traffic. Today it is in a state of abandonment, but remains one of the most evocative panoramic and historical points of Ponza, often visible during sea excursions near the coves of Lucia Rosa and Cala Feola.
