Today Cultural Centre. Spacious complex belonging to the traditional brick and sandstone style of the 16th and 17th century (processing of iron sandstone). In its current state it appears as a large elongated building, on which several volumes are grafted; one of these, the chapel (16th century) consists of a fairly small, rectangular space ending in a three-sided apse with ogee window in the choir closure; stucco ceiling dated 1773(?); traces of the bricked-up pointed arch arcade through which the chapel was probably connected to the large infirmary; the latter originally consisted of a large and high space under the visible roofing.

Internally extensively renovated and adapted, apparently around 1800, when the institution came into the possession of the municipal authorities and was set up as a civic almshouse. More recent building inscription in the front facade, with dates 1651-1915, the latter indicating a major external restoration.

The former infirmary was both the hospital and the retirement home of the beguinage. Nevertheless, it is the building with the richest architecture and clear prosperity. How did that happen? Because sick or elderly beguines were ultimately expected to leave their possessions here.

The infirmary itself dates back to 1291, but the elongated building you see now is from the sixteenth/seventeenth century with a facade from 1915 (see the dates on the buildings in the photos). There is also a separate chapel in the infirmary that is dedicated to Saint Leonard. It is perpendicular to the building. Next to the infirmary are three so-called almshouses, separate beguinage houses. In the past, the beguinage cemetery was also located in front of the infirmary.

Today, these buildings house the De Kapel eatery (now you know why it is called that) and part of the cultural center.
