This route is a combination of very quiet paved roads and a very well packed limestone trail on top of the South Saddle Dam. Even after our recent heavy rains the trail was very dry and smooth. The Corps of Engineers has done a great job maintaining the trail. The bike is suitable for any bike. However, like many packed trails, a wider tire makes the riding very comfortable. I rode a steel touring bike with 45mm tires and it was perfect.
