The Franciscan Reformati settled in Kazimierz Dolny in 1627 on the initiative of Abbot Henryk Firlej. The monastery was built in stages between 1639 and 1668. After a fire in 1827, the monastery complex was rebuilt in the classicist style. In 1865, the order was liquidated and the monks were moved to Pińczów. They returned to Kazimierz in 1928. During the Nazi occupation, the monastery was occupied by the Gestapo, which turned the basements into a prison. In the years 1945–1958, part of the buildings housed a boarding school for students. In 1956, on the initiative of Father Wenanty Miziniak, a museum was established in the monastery, which collects, among other things, manuscripts, old prints, sculptures, paintings and regional monuments. In the corridor there is a grandfather clock with the date 1763, decorated with a painting of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was made by Brother Joachim Gutowicz.
