The source of the Amel is near Honsfeld in the Belgian Eifel, on the border between the municipalities of Amel and Büllingen at 600 m above sea level. The Amel flows through the municipalities of Amel, Stavelot, Trois-Ponts and Aywaille. Near Trois-Ponts are the well-known waterfalls of Coo.
