The Klusen Chapel of St. Ägidius was probably built before 1300. The walls are made of Ruhr sandstone and the roof is made of slate. Two Gothic colored glass windows are installed on the south side. The Klusen Chapel's namesake, St. Giles, was considered the patron saint against infectious diseases. It is assumed that at the beginning the chapel served as a place of protection for a woman suffering from leprosy.

The exact origins of the St. Aegidius consecrated chapel are in the dark. It was probably built in the 13th century for the (church) atonement of a crime committed by a nobleman.

The Klusenkapelle St. Ägidius with the adjacent restaurant, set up in a half-timbered building from 1785, is now a popular destination for walks and excursions. The single-nave quarry stone building with a retracted choir was built in the late 18th century and mentioned as the chapel of a hermitage (hermitage). After the hermit's death, a leprosy house was built on this site. Processions to the chapel have been documented since 1747 to invoke St. Giles as one of the fourteen helpers in need. Ägidius is particularly the patron saint of breastfeeding mothers.

CHESTNUT TREES at the KLUSEN CHAPEL!

In autumn you can pick up beautiful LARGE CHESTNUTS here - usually from mid-September to October. This can be used to keep entire school classes occupied or to cheer up and activate families at family celebrations; Together with the small toothpicks in the restaurant "Zur Kluse" you can quickly form interesting or funny FIGURES out of the chestnuts, which you can then, for example, on the occasion of a birthday in the RESTAURANT "ZUR KLUSE": zurkluse.de zum Board game can be used by 4 people or more: THE CHESTNUT GAME now already knows how to operate...

For the first course, each participant is given 3 chestnuts and 3 toothpicks; Everyone then creates a figure and gives it a name. Then there is the evaluation: each participant has 3 points, which they can distribute to one, two or three figures - except, of course, not to their own figure. Whoever has the most points wins the FIRST ROUND.

For the second course, each participant receives another 3 chestnuts and 3 toothpicks, which are put together with the already made figure to form a NEW FIGURE and then a new name. As in the first round, the evaluation is then awarded with 3 points, which can be distributed to one figure in total or to 2 or 3 figures. Whoever has the most points wins the SECOND ROUND.

For the third course and conclusion of the menu, the THIRD ROUND takes place analogously to the first and second rounds again with 3 additional chestnuts and 3 more toothpicks and subsequent evaluation as in rounds 1 and 2. Whoever has collected the most points in all 3 rounds,
is CHESTNUT QUEEN or CHESTNUT KING or for children - PRINCESS or PRINCE!
