Didn’t visit the physical facility as I had my bike with me with but hiked/walked up the mountain/hill immediately accessible. While the pathway is simply loose gravel, it’s not steep and can be climbed with ease. Great views and some hidden treasures, such as incredibly old retaining walls, caves and abandoned buildings. Nice to see a freight train pulling in too. This is an incredibly poor area with century old, but still inhabited buildings - something worthwhile seeing as an academic contrast to the city. No street food vendors or shops are in the vicinity so make sure you either bring food with you or have lunch/dinner in the Yancun area. 28c gravel tyres as a minimum are advised to explore the local area, otherwise, 23c road tyres are suited to the well-surfaced highways. Western and Southern Fangshan are definitely worth seeing.
