Bradwell Bay Wilderness is part of the Apalachicola National Forest and spans over 24,600 acres of swamp and forest. Here, hikers sometimes must wade through waist-deep waters and navigate titi swamps, old-growth slash pines, and rare carnivorous pitcher plants. Animals like black bears, alligators, and white-tailed deer inhabit Bradwell Bay Wilderness. The Monkey Creek Swamp section is marked by high blazes on trees, guiding adventurers through its flood-prone paths. Due to its remoteness and lack of roads, it is a truly wild hike.
