At 1,215 meters, the Fichtelberg in the Ore Mountains is Saxony's highest mountain and a true highlight for nature and sports enthusiasts.

From Oberwiesenthal – Germany's highest town – you can reach the summit via numerous hiking trails or comfortably by historic cable car or car. At the top, an impressive panorama of the Ore Mountains and far into the Czech Republic awaits you.

In summer, the Fichtelberg is an ideal starting point for hikes, mountain bike tours, and excursions into the adjacent nature park. In winter, it transforms into Saxony's largest ski area with slopes, cross-country trails, and snowboard slopes. A visit to the mountain restaurant with its panoramic terrace perfectly rounds off the trip.

The Ore Mountains/Krušné Hory form a natural border between the Bohemian Eger Valley and the Saxon Muldenland. At 1,215 meters, the Fichtelberg is the highest peak on the German side – and offers a magnificent view of the Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park.

The nature park covers almost 1,500 square kilometers and is one of the most densely populated mountain regions in Europe. Numerous hiking trails and cultural offerings invite you to discover this impressive landscape on the German-Czech border.
