The history of the former railway line connecting Ścinawa with Prochowice (line no. 308) is an example of the transformation of unused transport infrastructure into an attractive recreational path. This line, approximately 17.5 km long, once played an important role in local transport.

The railway line from Ścinawa to Prochowice was built in 1923, when these areas were still within the borders of Germany (then Steinau an der Oder – Parchwitz). Its main purpose was to connect Ścinawa, an important railway junction and river port on the Oder, with Prochowice, which was located on the existing railway line from Legnica to Rudna Gwizdanów. This line was of a local nature and was used primarily for the transport of goods, especially agricultural produce from nearby estates, and for passenger transport for residents of smaller towns.
