Abstract sculpture memorializing the once dominant local motorbikes that many in the older generation still associate with happy moments of small freedoms and excursions during an otherwise oppressive occupation period.

    The sign reads:

    "GOLD MOPED"

The beginnings of the legendary "Golden moped" competition can be found in 1958, when the initiator of children's motorsport, Aleksandrs Briedis, founded the motorcycle club "Bieriņi". A few years later, "Bieriņi" organized the first moped competition, which is considered one of the first in the world.

In 1971, a small motocross tournament for children and schoolchildren was organized for the first time - the "Golden moped" competition. If in the first years the competition took place in Riga - on the shores of Mārupīte, then later the traditions of the "Golden moped" spread more and more throughout Latvia. In addition, the love of mopeds from Latvia also spread to other republics of the USSR at the time.

Over the course of more than 40 years, the "Golden moped" developed into the national folk sport of Latvia and the core value of motorsport. "Golden moped" became a valuable hobby for many and started the careers of titled motor sportsmen.

In 1973, the movement of Jūrkalne moped riders was started by Edgars Dadzis, who took Uldi Siliņu to the competition, who was later followed by Aivars Reinhold, Andris Bubląskis, Māris Dadzis and Guntis Bērziņš.

Arvīds Bērziņš made a big contribution to ensure the participation of the team "Dzintarkrasts" in the "Golden moped" competition, as well as in the creation of the Jūrkalne track and the organization of the competition. Ludvigs Kalniņš took care of the technique, was able to improve it and achieve higher results of athletes in competitions.

In total, several dozen Jūrkalė residents have participated in the "Golden moped" competition. the most notable successes were achieved by Ivo Kalniņš and Agris Kalniņš, who became Latvian champions. Jānis Dadzis, Guntis Spade, Maigonis Vagalis and others started their sports careers with the «Golden moped», who later took part in various motocross competitions.

The Jūrkalne track, which today is crossed by nature trails, was opened in 1975. The kolkhoz cup competitions took place here, which gathered a significant number of drivers from all over Latvia year after year.

Jūrkalne, Latvian and international motor sportsmen regularly train on the newly created Jūrkalne track.
