Named after the area it is in. John F. Lymburn (1880-1969) was born in Ayr, Scotland. He graduated as a law agent from Glasgow University in 1906 and arrived in Edmonton in 1911, where he worked with the firm of Short & Cross for more than a year before opening his own office. In 1926 Lymburn was elected to the Legislative Assembly as a member of the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA). He served as the attorney general from 1926 to 1935, when the UFA was defeated by the Social Credit Party.
