          Brother's hole

          The legend is about a cave called "Bruderloch" near Kandern in the southern Black Forest. A former monastery brother from Venice is said to have lived here and made gold.

          But the legendary cave is not easy to find.
          The Bruderloch was first mentioned in a spell description in 1688. It is described as a cave in which a hermit lived. When exactly the hermit is said to have lived in the cave is not clear. He is said to have tried to make gold from a base metal with a strange liquid.
          He allegedly fled to the brother hole because he was being persecuted. He is said to have put the horse shoe the wrong way around.
