"Helenenhof" Housing Estate
The residential complex was built in 1926/27 by a merger of craftsmen and architects to form the "Zentralbaugesellschaft" (Central Building Company), based on plans by Willi Jänicken and Gotthold Puschmann. It was considered groundbreaking for the "New Building" movement in Chemnitz in the 1920s. The residential complex also incorporates stylistic elements of Expressionism and Art Deco.

Particularly striking is the facade of the Helenenhof, built in 1922 as a residential complex on a U-shaped floor plan. The simple façade is rhythmically designed with triangular bay windows and raised building sections. The corners of the Helenenhof are emphasized by prominent corner buildings. The large round-arched portal on Walter-Oertel-Straße leads into the inner courtyard.
