The Belchen is not the highest mountain, but it is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Black Forest, because it offers visitors a fantastic panoramic view of the Rhine Valley, the Vosges and, in good weather, even as far as the Alps. As one of the most popular excursion destinations in the southern Black Forest, the Belchen is well frequented all year round.

Great view to the Alps. When visibility is good, even Mont Blanc (4,810 m) is visible. It appears to the west as a white elevation after the western Swiss Alps have flattened out. In addition, a great view of the Hochblauen (1,165 m), the Rhine plain to the Kaiserstuhl and France to the Vosges. The Große Belchen / Grand Ballon (1,424 m) and Le Hohneck (1,363 m) can be seen.

With its 1414 meters, the Belchen is "only" the fourth highest Black Forest mountain. For me, however, the most beautiful! The view is terrific! You can see the Feldberg, the Kandel, over to France in the Vosges, the Jura mountains, with good visibility even the Alps up to the Mont Blanc.

Best panoramic view from the 3rd highest peak 1414m (after Herzogenhorn 1415m and Feldberg 1493m) in the Black Forest, towards
Münstertal, Rhine Valley, Grosses and Kleines Wiesental, Feldberg, Kandel, Vosges, Jura, Alps and even Mont Blanc, weather permitting. My best highlight: experiencing a sunrise on the 4th Advent 2021 at the full moon, on a snowshoe tour.
