One of so many... The old winding tower, adjacent to the park and the skate park by the Dragon Bridge.

Due to its proximity to the Hoheward spoil tip and the Ewald coal mine, it may receive less attention. Nevertheless, it's definitely worth a visit.

Recklinghausen II colliery is easily accessible from the Hohewart spoil heap via the Dragon Bridge. Today, only the miners' changing rooms and administration buildings remain. The surface facilities of Recklinghausen I have been listed as historical monuments since 1981. At Recklinghausen II in Hochlarmark, the headframe of Shaft IV "Konrad Ende" and the restored steam winding engine in the adjacent engine house still bear witness to the mining history. This steam engine, dating from 1967, is also the last one built for German hard coal mining and for industrial purposes in general. Beneath the former spoil heap at Recklinghausen II lies the RAG's Recklinghausen training mine.
