Starts relatively gently at first and starts to ramp up just after the motorway bridge. It gets properly steep soon after. The steepest section overall is after the hairpin bend so it is essential to save something for it. The steepest 0.5 km averages over 15% so is no joke.

First tip is to fit a large cassette so you can ride the first section before the hairpin conservatively and then push through the second harder part. I fitted a compact with a 34T cassette and that was enough (only just though). This is probably Surrey's hardest climb and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Tip from me is to climb it very early in the morning so you can weave more comfortably if necessary.
