10 Maulbronn Heads
Portraits of famous Maulbronn seminarians from 1570 to 1950 at the Schafhof Maulbronn
The monastery school, the Evangelical Seminary Maulbronn, has existed for over 450 years. Over the centuries, numerous famous personalities have emerged from the ranks of its students, later called seminarians. The 10 Maulbronn Heads now serve as a memorial to them.
The portrait busts are intended to remind visitors to Maulbronn that the monastery school was able to provide decisive inspiration to its seminarians at a young age. The Schafhof, as the former farmyard of the monastery and home of the Maulbronn History and Local History Society, as well as the Heinrich Art Collection, has proven to be an ideal location.
The portrait busts on display were created from stucco originals by Hatto Zeidler (Hohenklingen), then cast and patinated by Christoph Zeidler (Düsseldorf). A significant inspiration for Hatto Zeidler's creation of the portrait busts was Hansjörg Ziegler's book "Maulbronner Köpfe" (Maulbronn Heads), published in 1987.
