One of the oldest churches in the Kovrovsky district is located on the site of the former churchyard Plesetz. In the middle of the 16th century, the village of Plesetz was a sovereign estate. Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich the Terrible in 1561 transferred this patrimony to the Nizhny Novgorod Pechersky Ascension Monastery, in whose patrimony the village was until 1764.
