The municipality of Mettenberg includes the two districts of Hochstetterhof and Königshofen. On August 25, 1299, Johann, known as Griffo, donated ownership of this land to Biberach Hospital, and in the same year, Hochstetterhof was first mentioned. In a Biberach Hospital document from 1536, the village appears under the name "Hofstetten." When the current name "Hochstetterhof" was introduced is unknown, and its meaning can only be speculated.
Due to its remote location, there is a small firefighting pond on the site, which still serves as fire protection today. The old bakehouse in the middle of the hamlet bears witness to the time when every farm baked its own bread. Today, one of the buildings houses a farm shop selling organic products.
About one kilometer north of here, you can see Königshofen. The stately farm was founded as a "Maiereigut" (a farmstead) by Baron von Koenig Warthausen around 1830. Königshofen is still privately owned today.
