Very nice spot on a Ahrbogen. Has something of a canyon. On the right bank of the Ahr a probably 100 m long rock wall, about 10 m high towering. Cut in at one point from the "Prümer Tor". In earlier times this was used as access to a ford by the flat Ahr at this point.

The Prüm Gate natural monument is a fascinating geological feature created solely by the power of water.

Over millions of years, water has carved a gap approximately 6 to 8 meters wide in a rock ridge approximately 100 meters long and 12 meters high.

The Prüm feudal lords of the Ahrgau region once drove their tithes through the resulting gate on carts toward Bad Münstereifel. This is how the impressive rock gate got its name, the Prüm Gate.
