The view from Carn Brea is incredible. You can see both the north and south coasts of Cornwall.
The monument was built in 1836 as a memorial to Francis Bassett, Lord de Dunstaville. He did a lot of work to improve conditions for miners and 20,000 people attended his funeral. At 90 ft high, the monument it is pretty recognisable. Look out for it atop any other high hill or cliff in Cornwall and you're likely to be able to see it. You can even go inside and upstairs to a lookout point.
