Café has opened at Barßel Harbor
Barßel. A new meeting place for visitors has opened at Barßel Harbor since the beginning of April: the "Best Place Harbor Café." In a converted shipping container, operators Mona Wolke, Jan Lange, and Mario Thomalla offer snacks and drinks for strollers, tourists, and playground visitors. This fulfills a long-held wish of many harbor visitors.
Mayor Nils Anhuth expressed his enthusiasm for the new café at the contract signing: "After visiting the dream play park, spontaneously grabbing a French fry, enjoying a coffee by the water in bright sunshine, or buying a sandwich during a bike ride – all of this is now possible at the harbor. It's great that we've found a motivated team of operators for a café."
The café's offerings include both classic snacks and specialty dishes. "We offer coffee and cold drinks on site, as well as a selection of cocktails. Tea will also be available soon," reports Mona Wolke. The focus is on sandwiches, including bruschetta, sandwiches with grilled vegetables, smoked ham, or fish. For those who prefer savory dishes, there are also fries, currywurst with homemade curry sauce, and bratwurst.
The operators are committed to gradually expanding their offerings. Jan Lange explains: "We're still in the process of developing them. Opening hours and the product range are still being finalized and may expand." The café is currently open Fridays from 2 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.
In addition to the culinary offerings, the team also provides seating directly at the harbor. This means the café is not just a place to refuel, but also a place to linger and enjoy. Mayor Anhuth is already looking forward to his first fries after a visit to the playground and wishes the team a successful start.
