The Copper-Roof Palace is a late Baroque palace at the foot of the Royal Castle in Warsaw. It was built in the 17th century and owes its name to the then unusual roof covering with copper sheeting. In the 18th century it belonged to Stanisław August Poniatowski, and then to Prince Józef Poniatowski, who set up one of the most important salons in Warsaw here. After World War II it was rebuilt, and since 1988 it has been part of the Royal Castle. It currently houses museum exhibitions, including Prince Poniatowski's apartment and a collection of oriental rugs.
