The witch stone was set up by the Palatine Forest Association Wachenheim at Hexenplatz. On top of the hill was a burial mound, probably with a grave mensir.

The place was considered pagan, since there was an unknown grave. So one told oneself that there would be ghosts around and witches would do their mischief.🕀

The Hexenstein is at the top of Hexenplatz. The stone was set up by PWV Wachenheim and included in the Ritterstein network. He wears the number 268.
On the ridge was a tumulus on which stood a grave menhir, which has now been converted into a witch stone.

A landmark for hikers. The stone was set up by the Pfälzerwald Verein Wachenheim am Hexenplatz. On the ridge was a burial mound, a large burial mound, on which probably stood a "steep" a tomb coronation stone or grave menhir, which has now been converted into a witchstone.

In 1689, the Hexenkäth is said to have tried to “save Wachenheim from destruction by the French occupiers. Unfortunately, she didn't succeed; instead, the city below went up in flames during the War of the Palatinate Succession. According to legend, Käth avenged the crime, but still died at the hands of a pursuer while escaping to the mountain that was then known as 'Hexenplatz'. According to stories, all sorts of pagan rituals were performed there.
In 1981 the Hexenstein was erected there by the Wachenheim Palatinate Forest Association. A sandstone relief of ‘Hexenkäth’ is carved into it by the sculptor Walter Vogt, as a reminder of the legend about the girl’s fate.”

For Ritterstein fans: This Ritterstein (full name: “Hexenstein PWV Wachenheim 1981”) is NOT recognizable as a Ritterstein at first glance, because it bears the name of a single PWV local group (“PWV Wachenheim”) instead of just the abbreviation “ PWV”. It is one of over 300 knight stones of the Palatinate Forest Association.
