The Wings" by Daniel Libeskind
The sculpture in front of the Siemens headquarters in Munich
The sculpture "The Wings" by architect and artist Daniel Libeskind, with its location in front of the Siemens headquarters directly on the Oskar-von-Miller-Ring in Munich, creates a visible reference point on the new connecting axis between the city center and the art district.
With two other examples of the Wings, which are set up at the largest Siemens location (Erlangen) and at the Siemens founding site (Berlin), these sculptures symbolize an "Innovation Bridge" between historically significant locations of the company and the world. With "The Wings" by Libeskind, the global citizen and innovation artist with offices in Milan and New York, as an artistic-architectural contribution to its own location, Siemens embodies its claim to creatively shape the future and technological progress.
The Wings were exhibited for the first time as a four-part installation at Expo 2015 in Milan. Two sculptures have thousands of LEDs integrated into their surface, enabling graphic animation.
