This small section leads through a palm grove in the east and through the town of Chebika du Jerid. At the northernmost tip of the section is the tourist hotspot with an entrance to a small waterfall (2-3m high), as well as a climb up the rock to get a breathtaking view of the plain. However, this is not a suitable destination for cleats. A café at the northernmost point is very expensive, in the town down on the main road there are two small cafés for residents, where you don't pay a tourist surcharge (but you don't have a view of the palm grove either).
Even if you can't drink a coffee and can't walk to the waterfall or even up the mountain with cleats, it is still worth driving through the palm grove here, even if you will lose some time.
The asphalt is mostly good, in the east even perfect. Only at the northern tip is a small section bad and partially non-existent. Unless a caravan of SUVs with tourists is passing by, there is no traffic here at all.
