Museum about the life and work of Sun Yat-Sen, located inside the museum park around Sun Yat-Sen's former residence.
Sun Yat-Sen, in Mandarin Chinese Sun Zhongshan, was born here in 1866. The house he was born in does not exist anymore, as it had to make way for the new building that then became his residence - and now forms the central part of the museum park.
Sun Yat-Sen was influential in the overthrow of the last Qing emperor. He was the leader of the Chinese National Party (Kuomintang), is known as the father of modern China and was the first president of the Republic of China. He died in 1925 in Beijing.
