The Warsaw Power Plant, also known as the Municipal Power Plant or the “Powiśle” Power Plant, has been operating since 1904 in Warsaw’s Powiśle district. It was built as an investment by a private company and since 1933 it has been under state supervision. In 1937 it was taken over by the Warsaw City Council. It operated during the defense of Warsaw in 1939 and the Warsaw Uprising until September 1944. After the war, it was restarted in 1945 and operated until the early 1990s. Some of its buildings were adapted for the Elektrownia Powiśle commercial and service complex, opened in 2020.

Our history goes back to 1904. It was then that the local authorities announced a call for tenders for the construction of the power plant, which continued to be expanded in subsequent years, becoming one of the largest and most modern power plants in Poland.
