This is the middle point between Douz and Matmata, exactly 50km of the 100km route. When the desert blooms (like it did here on February 20, 2025), you can admire a sea of flowers that give off a wonderful and intense scent reminiscent of lilacs.
Very good asphalt along the entire route. IMHO you have to do a trip through the desert like this at least once. It's mentally tough because it's all straight ahead. With a strong headwind and the trip towards Matmata (uphill) it's a real challenge. Take a face mask with you!
