Yamato played a huge role in the development of Japanese medicine and medical care. Even in the past, we cannot talk about the use of medicine and medicinal herbs without mentioning Yamato, such as the medicine hunting of Empress Suiko, which is recorded in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, the use of medicinal herbs by the mountain ascetic En no Gyoja, the medicine making and herb gardens at temples in Nara, and the door-to-door medicine sales that people all over the country were waiting for.
The Sankogan Medicine Museum is a museum where you can learn about the various knowledge and wisdom of medicinal herbs and door-to-door medicine left by these ancestors, as well as the history and reality of door-to-door medicine sales through Sankogan, which has been manufactured since the Gen'o era and has been loved in daily life for 700 years. You can not only see and hear, but also touch real medicinal herbs and medicine-making tools, experience medicine-making, and enjoy "Yamato medicine" from various angles using all five senses.
