There is a great debate about whether cycling is an appropriate sport in winter. If the snow and weather conditions are right, it can be quite appealing and fun.
Of course, the temperatures and road conditions (salty, slippery, etc.) are an issue, as is the choice of tires, clothing and food!
Compared to tours in ideal temperatures, dry ground, etc., winter rides are a completely different challenge. Once you've gotten to know it, you don't want to miss it and you find it fun.
How often do you carelessly drive past a point you've already cycled to countless times, until you pay more attention to the same place in winter in snow and sunshine and take more time and discover completely new aspects of nature!
This is also the case on the Col du Chasseral; either you come up from one side and go down the other, or you turn off to the hotel or even to the radio mast platform (if you haven't been up there, you haven't been to the Chasseral, that's my attitude). But the pass offers much more than just a crossing, albeit a little hidden, but that just takes some time.
