Countess Matia Theresia von Schönborn (1698-1751) was a great philanthropist. She had many buildings constructed in Heusenstamm. For example, the wonderful and very worth seeing Catholic Church of St. Cecilia was built between 1739 and 1741 thanks to her work. The Old Town Hall, which was built in 1744 as a schoolhouse and orphanage, is also the result of her social commitment.

Maria Theresia von Schönborn was the wife of Count Anselm von Schönborn. She resided in Heusenstamm Castle and, after the early death of her husband in 1726, administered the Heusenstamm estate alone until her death in 1751.
During her tenure, she had a lasting impact on the townscape of Heusenstamm, a fact still evident today through the parish church of St. Cecilia, which she financed.

Just three years after its completion, in 1744, she had a magnificent schoolhouse built on the church square. This was the first schoolhouse in Heusenstamm. After the castle and the church, it was the most prestigious building in the town and by no means merely a functional structure.
