The queen of Venetian villas, Villa Pisani, also known as the Nazionale, is one of the most famous examples of a Venetian villa on the Brenta Riviera. This villa is located in Stra, in the province of Venice, and overlooks the Naviglio del Brenta. Today it is home to a national museum, which preserves works of art and furnishings from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The most magnificent villa on the Brenta River, Villa Pisani "La Nazionale" in Strà, was built in the 18th century at the request of the wealthy and prominent Venetian Pisani family. Although the family already owned numerous estates at the time, Doge Almorò Pisani commissioned the new building from the Paduan architect Girolamo Frigimelica in 1735. Of the initial design, however, only the stables and a few ornamental buildings in the gardens were realized. The final realization of the project was in the hands of the architect Francesco Maria Preti.
The building, of monumental proportions, rises on a rectangular ground plan, with two courtyards separated by a colonnade. Above the colonnade lies the majestic ballroom, the heart of the complex.
With the fall of the Republic of Venice, the villa was sold to Napoleon Bonaparte, who gifted it to the Viceroy of Italy, Eugenio Beauharnais.
In 1814, the property passed to the Emperor of Austria and finally, in 1866, to the House of Savoy, which bequeathed Villa Pisani to the Italian state in 1882.
