This mountain bike (MTB) section is approximately 3.12 km long, with a constant incline and no breaks. For this reason, regular effort is recommended during the ascent. The average gradient is 12.5%, which, added to the slightly wet ground, makes pedaling difficult as the tires sink more. Río Blanco and Quebrada Olivares Protective Forest Reserve
The Río Blanco and Quebrada Olivares Protective Forest Reserve is recognized as one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity in the world and an important space for the conservation of natural resources. It is located on the Central Andes mountain range, in the department of Caldas, just 3 km northeast of Manizales.
With an area of 4,932 hectares of cloud forest, the reserve borders the municipalities of Marulanda and Neira. It is located at an altitude that varies between 2,150 and 3,700 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 11 °C (52 °F) and a relative humidity of 90%. This area is vital for the preservation of species and the ecological balance of the region. It is important to highlight that access to this reserve is restricted; However, on this occasion it was possible thanks to the Manizales Fair Crossing 2025.
