          The Kalte Rinne Viaduct in Adlitzgraben near Breitenstein is the most impressive viaduct on the Semmering Railway. With a length of 184 m and a height of 46 m, it is a very popular photo object along the 41 km long route, not only among railway fans.
          An electric locomotive from the ÖBB series 1141 and a Taurus 1216 pull a bulk wagon block train over the mighty structure. The two-story viaduct with a total of 15 arches over the Kalte Rinne is the highest of its kind along the Semmering Railway.

          The Semmering Railway has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998 and is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year. The route, considered a milestone in railway history, was planned by Carl von Gehga and ceremoniously opened in 1854.

          The Semmering Railway also adorned the back of the 20-shilling banknote from 1968. The “20 Schilling View” is now a well-known and popular viewing point on Semmering.
