For safety reasons, the old marl caves are not freely accessible. However, they offer opportunities for educational and recreational activities. The visitor even gets an impression of the monumental, unique microclimate and historical character of the quarries from just one of the entrances. In addition to their high heritage value, the quarries recently also acquired a function as a bat reserve. The walls and ceilings of the caves offer hibernation sites (hibernacula) for bats due to their irregular shapes and microclimate.
