Wonderful and little known, the Abbey of Viboldone is located in a suggestive corner south of Milan. Very ancient, founded in 1176 and completed in 1348, it contains masterpieces of medieval painting such as the Madonna enthroned with saints, from the Giotto school, and the evocative Last Judgment by Giusto de 'Menabuoi (second half of the fourteenth century). Do not miss the external portal, with fourteenth-century sculptures of refined workmanship. In the convent still lives a cloistered female monastic community, of the Benedictine order of the ss. Peter and Paul.
