The name of the street comes from the settlement that was founded around the church of St. Martin, known as a suburb of Saint Martin or simply Saint Martin (hence the name of Saint Martin street, not Saint Martin). It was mentioned for the first time in the document of April 24, 1252, in which the settlement was mentioned by the Poznań chapter to Prince Przemysł I. Part of Saint Martin, owned by the Poznań cathedral chapter, at the end of the 16th century lay in the Poznań poviat of the Poznań voivodship [2]. This suburb was incorporated into the city limits by the Prussian authorities in 1797, and its main road became ul. Saint Martin (Sankt Martin Strasse). One of the most important streets in Poznań. It celebrates its holiday on November 11. Then a colorful procession moves down the street, led by Saint. Marcin. It is worth trying the local specialty: St. Martin's croissants.
