The foundation stone of the Liebfrauenkirche was laid in 1276 (more precisely: “Zur alten Frauen” church). It was built on the walls of an older Slavic chapel. There was a monastery around them. The monks brought the wine and dyer woad cultivation to Plaue. With the relocation of the village to the local mountain, the area around the church, which was often hit by floods, lost importance.
