The weir in Widuchowa is located at 704.1 km of the Oder River. It is a hydrotechnical structure, but at the same time a monument of architecture and construction. The construction of the weir was completed in 1914.
The main task of this structure was and is to control the distribution of water into two streams between the West Oder and the East Oder. The weir itself was one of the most important engineering objects of the project carried out in 1906–1932 to direct a two-part Oder riverbed from Gozdowice to Hohenwutzen (Zatonia Górna) and further to the mouth of Lake Dąbie. This facility is entered in the Register of Building and Construction Monuments, therefore all repair and modernization works require the consent of the restorer. The weir was built 704.1 km from the Oder sources and at km 0.00 of the Western Oder riverbed, which branches off from the main Oder riverbed.
