The former Finsterwald drilling platform was built in 1979. The drilling tower was dismantled in January 1981 due to technical problems. The platform was not dismantled and a recreational area was created instead. This was presented to the public as a gift by the owner (the Entlebuch Cooperation) on September 21, 1996.

It is now a diverse rest area with a triple grill and several tables and benches.

It has a play tower with climbing ropes and a long slide, a soccer field and a sandpit.

It also has a small kiosk with cold drinks, a coffee machine and snacks. You can pay there in cash or with Twint.

There is also a building with covered seating. This can be rented for events between March and November.

Toilets are available.

There is a large free parking lot.

The site is a great starting point for walking and hiking trails in both summer and winter.
