At this location, the bridge remains are silent witnesses to the remains of a Roman villa?
After research, I can add the following information:
Short description
This marshland, located in the central Ardennes, southeast of the village of Vesqueville, not far from Saint-Hubert, includes several bodies of water, wet meadows and deciduous forests, all crossed by a small tributary of the Lomme. The existence of the ponds, documented since at least the mid-19th century, is linked to the activities of a local sawmill, now disappeared. The occupation of the site is nevertheless much older, since the remains of a Roman villa were discovered there and were the subject of several excavations. The biological importance of the site remains poorly documented, but several interesting plant and animal species have been noted, including the water clover (Menyanthes trifoliata), the European kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), the bloody grasshopper (Stethophyma grossum), etc.
